It's tilted down, but, more to the point, is mounted under the overhang of the pilothouse roof.

The VHF will be hooked to the plotter and will show the right icons for the "away" boats. Thanks for the tips.Rhyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00598445145507204424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6458075112175110787.post-8052918648368506182016-06-30T19:21:36.739-04:002016-06-30T19:21:36.739-04:00Nice radio! WAAS is a continental thing, and will introduce errors when you arrive in Bahamas or Puerto Rico.
Mount the hailer horn forward of the conning position, ours is behind us and feedback occurs. Tilt it down to drain water.
Same MMSI on all three radios. Simplified paging. I've dinghied through a difficult and narrow channel , sending position reports every 100 metres, the result showed up as a series of icons on the mother ships chart plotter, showing navigable waters. So connect your VHF to your plotter, it's worthwhile.Silverheels IIIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03049073125986706927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6458075112175110787.post-92126159234624570952014-04-10T14:44:20.985-04:002014-04-10T14:44:20.985-04:00Well, not necessarily. But yes, things are proceeding nicely and I hope to get the engine running and the mast in this summer for some (gasp!) SAILING.

I leave the winter for installing tankage and bashing cabinetry. Hope all is well at your considerably warmer end.Rhyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00598445145507204424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6458075112175110787.post-47553612646373549932014-04-10T12:49:20.338-04:002014-04-10T12:49:20.338-04:00AIS and a new VHF?
